PTZ & Speed Dome Cameras
PTZ cameras (pan-tilt-zoom cameras) can rotate freely 360 degrees and go up and down (tilt) 90 degrees making them a great surveillance tool for businesses with security guards on duty. Modern PTZ cameras are also able to track a person automatically without a person controlling the camera. PTZ cameras usually come with significant optical zoom capabilities and can track objects far away. Usually, a PTZ camera comes with a strong infrared illuminator which allows night vision over long distance.
Installation of PTZ cameras often require additional accessories such as mounts and junction boxes. All manufacturers offer a variety of fitting PTZ camera accessories for all types of applications.
PTZ cameras often require more power than other camera types since the camera uses power rotating and zooming in. Most PTZ cameras are designed for outside use.
A downside of PTZ cameras is that they are generally prized higher than regular cameras. Additionally, PTZ cameras can only see what is in front. If true surround vision is required a multi-sensor camera or fisheye camera might be a better option than a PTZ camera.
