Zoom Network IP Camera Overview

A zoom network camera can be defined as any network camera found to include a variable focal length (vari-focal) lens capable of changing the focal length to zoom in or out within the camera’s field of view. A network camera with a built-in zoom lens is commonly referred to as a camera with a built-in optical zoom lens.

It is more common that a zoom network camera refer to a camera with built-in zoom lens as opposed to a manual zoom vari-focal lens. A vari-focal manual zoom lens can be adjusted manually at the camera during installation whereas a camera with built-in zoom capabilities allows for zoom adjustment controlled via a software interface thus allowing for readily available zoom control at the tip of your fingers.
