Vivotek IP8161 Overview

The Vivotek IP8161 is a professional level 2.0 megapixel Day/Night IP network camera featuring H.264 video compression in addition to MPEG4 and MJPEG compression technologies. By including H.264 support, the IP8161 can produce a high quality video stream while requiring a reduced amount of bandwidth when compared to MPEG4 or MJPEG using similar settings. With the inclusion of a 2.0 megapixel CMOS image sensor, H.264 video compression, Day/Night functionality and a Vari-focal, Auto-iris lens, the Vivotek IP8161 is suitable for applications that require high level video performance capable of providing accurate identification of persons including human face identification. With such high performance capabilities the IP8161 can be implemented into wide open space environments including airport terminals, bank locations, parking lot locations as well as building entrances or exits.

The 2.0 megapixel CMOS image sensor provides a wide field of view with a high level of detail compared to standard VGA IP cameras. By providing a wider field of view the total number of cameras required may be reduced due to the added coverage provided by the IP8161. The added video quality produced by the 2.0 megapixel image sensor also makes this camera ideal for parking lot locations where identification of license plates may be required. The Vivotek ePTZ function included with the IP8161 allows for users to focus on close-up shots of different areas within the camera’s field of view without having to physically move the camera. Users have the ability to quickly target and focus on key areas by clicking directly on the camera’s video feed.

Additional features of the Vivotek IP8161 include a SD/SDHC card slot for on-board storage capabilities, Two-Way audio support providing full two way audio conversation capabilities, PoE (Power over Ethernet) support allowing for reduced installation cost by providing power to the camera via the same Ethernet cable that video data is also present on and a removable IR-cut filter which allows for operation during the day and at night without sacrificing video image quality. With the inclusion of free 32 channel network video monitoring and recording software the Vivotek IP8161 is a complete IP camera ready for installation within any video surveillance application.
