Vivotek FD8161 Overview

The Vivotek FD8161 is a professional series H.264 2.0 megapixel indoor fixed dome IP network camera suitable for surveillance applications where high resolution video is required. The FD8161 is designed for installation in environments ranging from building entrance ways to airport lounges or terminals and can provide accurate identification of individuals, human faces or even license plate numbers.

With the inclusion of a 2.0 megapixel image sensor the FD8161 provides wide area coverage with a field of view that is 6 times larger than that on a standard VGA IP camera. By providing such a wide field of view the FD8161 can help reduce the total number of cameras needed. With the inclusion of H.64 video compression technology the FD8161 can provide high quality video while requiring drastically reduced bandwidth compared to MPEG4 or MJPEG video compression at similar settings. Multiple video streams can also be configured for simultaneous viewing so that a dedicated high quality video feed can be configured for local monitoring or recording while still allowing for a reduced bandwidth video steam to be configured for remote or mobile viewing purposes. With the inclusion of 3GPP support the FD8161 will allow for a video stream to be viewed directly on a 3G cell phone or smart phone.

The FD8161 comes equipped with a removable IR-cut filter and built-in infrared illuminators with a 15 meter range allowing for operation both during the day and at night or when no light is present within the viewing area. Additional features include a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor, 3-axis mechanism providing flexible installation, Two-Way audio support, SD/SDHC card slot on-board storage and PoE support allowing for reduced installation cost by providing the ability to share power and video on the same Ethernet cable line. With the inclusion of free 32 channel network video monitoring and recording software the Vivotek FD8161 is a high level functioning IP network camera suitable for installation in any indoor environment.
