Video Analytics Software
Video analytic software allows for advanced video monitoring capabilities beyond the scope of more traditional network video recording software or free bundled network video recording software. Video analytic software is designed to analyze specific data, objects or behavior and may vary to include analytic applications for license plate recognition, object tracking, people tracking, facial recognition, object counting, point of sales (POS) applications and advanced alarm management. Video analytic software may be included within more traditional network video recording software or may be purchased as an application add on or plug in. Video analytic software may also be available as a complete package with all video analytic parts included under a single software platform or may be available as separate parts that function individually or can later be combined together.
Video analytics is now starting to be included directly within some manufacturer’s IP cameras or video servers but is usually limited in ability. This section will focus on video analytic software as opposed to network video surveillance devices that feature basic video analytic capabilities.
