H.264 Video Server Overview

H.264 compression technology, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, allows for the same quality video resolution as compared to MPEG4 or MJPEG video compression technologies but at a reduced bit rate. H.264 can also allow for higher quality video at the same bit rate of MPEG4 or MJPEG when directly compared to either video compression technology.

IP network video servers or video encoders with H.264 video compression technology may be used for applications that require high video quality and high frame rate settings while requiring less bandwidth as opposed to the bandwidth requirements for MPEG4 or MJPEG video compression. Video servers or video encoders with H.264 compression technology should also be considered for applications where low bandwidth utilization is a priority.
