D-Link DCS-6620G Overview

The D-Link Securicam DCS-6620G Internet Camera hosts a number of features that make it a serious consideration when planning to add a network camera to your security installation.

The DCS-6620G provides 802.11g Wireless, and 10/100 Fast Ethernet network connectivity, allowing you flexibility and options for installation locations. Being wireless means the camera can be installed high on a wall or ceiling, out of reach of would be vandals.

The 10x optical zoom function, along with the auto focus, auto iris lens, provide you with clear, detailed images and video, which may prove helpful when trying to identify facial features or license numbers. With a 0.05 Lux rating, the DCS-6620G boasts extreme low light sensitivity, enabling you to monitor your location in near total darkness. A Pan range of 270 degrees and Tilt range of 90 degrees, lets you take advantage of these imaging capabilities over a large surveillance area.

The built in microphone captures audio along with the video, providing you with even more capability when monitoring your site. The DCS-6620G supports two-way audio. Connecting an external speaker to the AV Out port allows you to communicate with whoever may be near your camera. This feature makes the DCS-6620G an excellent entrance monitor camera, allowing you to identify a person and communicate with them before letting them in.

The DCS-6620G is remotely viewable thanks to its Web-based interface. Up to 10 users at one time can be allowed to view your camera's live video feed. For more options, the included D-ViewCam software from D-Link, gives you greater camera control, and video recording on a local hard drive. Set up the camera to record at your own predetermined times and intervals. Or have the camera record whenever it detects motion in your surveillance area. You can even have an email alert automatically generated and sent to you so that you can always be aware of what is happening. The software supports up to 32 cameras and allows you to view and mange them from one convenient interface.
