AXIS Q7401 Overview

The AXIS Q7401 (0288-004) video encoder has powerful features that allow the integration of analog devices into IP networks. The AXIS Q7401 video encoder is compatible with over 25 models of analog CCTV cameras. The device also allows the use of sophisticated functions, such as pan, tilt and zoom. The devices are a single-channel encoder that can make use of multiple video codecs and that can send multiple streams across the network at once. The device is also provided with external I/O jacks that allow the addition of sensors, relays and other devices.

The AXIS Q7401 video encoder can stream in H.264 format, a codec that allows 80% superior compression over Motion JPEG. Motion JPEG is also available on this encoder for compatibility. The AXIS Q7401 video encoder can send streams in both formats at the same time, with each individually configured. It can transmit these two streams at full frame rate if needed. The device sends video in 720x576 resolutions for PAL systems and at 720x480 resolution for NTSC systems. The compression reduces bandwidth while still providing excellent image quality.

The AXIS Q7401 video encoder is compatible with cameras from most of the major manufacturers, including American Dynamics, Canon, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sony and more. The device installs easily, using Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology that allows it to receive its network connection and its power supply from the same cable, reducing the complexities and expenses associated with installation.
