Vivotek Supreme Series in the Spotlight at ISC West

Monday, April 25th, 2011

The VIVOTEK SUPREME series is once again in the spotlight as experts revel in the marvels of the series’ high quality features and exceptional resolution as well as the heightened reliability and effortless installation.

VIVOTEK has been a frontrunner in IP surveillance technology for many years, their latest project, the launch of the new SUPREME series network camera line up, was the buzz around the ISC West 2011 Exposition in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The network cameras in the SUPREME series are engineered predominately for high-end applications and provide exceptional video quality available in full HD or up to 5-megapixel resolution (IP8172). One of the most revered features of this new lineup is the Supreme Night Visibility which offers users an advanced security and surveillance solution that maintains true night vision capabilities. When tested against many leading competitors, the cameras in the SUPREME series have been proven to outperform even those with high megapixel capability in low lighting conditions.

Wanting to break the barriers of the conventional security technology industry, each of the SUPREME series models containing a “P” feature utilizes the latest P-Iris lens technology. This technology facilitates the use of a built-in motor to mechanically control lens iris movement to allow for a much more precise viewing degree.

When asked to comment on the new lineup, Harry Hu, the Director of Sales at VIVOTEK USA said, “We are extremely excited about the launch of the SUPREME series camera line. Although there are many choices when it comes to network cameras, none of them come close to the usability, affordability, and reliability of VIVOTEK, especially the SUPREME series.” Hu also noted that their success at this year’s ISC West conference was largely attributed to the SUPREME series and its growing popularity among those in the industry.

South African Sasolburg Plant Installs AXIS Thermal Cameras

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

As part of the largest international integrated energy and chemical company on the globe, the day-to-day operations of Sasol Limited are extremely complex. Of their many strategies and business initiatives, the Sasolburg and Secunda plants hold the distinct responsibility of being the only producers of ammonia in South Africa. The Sasolburg plant experienced the need to alter their existing methods of heat intensity monitoring since the flames produced during production were virtually invisible to the human eye.

The decision was made to contact TVMS, security technology specialist, who were then given the task of testing several thermal IP cameras and determining which camera was the most likely to satisfy the intense security requirements of the firm. After the initial testing phase was completed, a series of Axis Q1910 Thermal Network Cameras were installed. As part of the well respected Axis family of cameras, the Q1910 was both cost efficient and highly functional in the chemical manufacturing environment.

The engineers and security personnel in at Sasol are far better equipped to tend to their responsibilities than ever before. Furthermore, the facility is now fully capable of tending to fluctuations in temperature as early on as possible, in order to protect the integrity of their products.

Axis Cameras Installed in El Dorado Community

Friday, April 15th, 2011

The security challenges of the Serrano El Dorado Owners’ Association, a 4000 – property community, were exhaustive. The community realized their security guards and patrol officers were not being given the quality of support they needed to succeed. This realization came after security managers reported difficulty monitoring and identifying incidents around the community’s 21 gated entrances and nearly 53 miles of road.

After the decision to enlist outside help was made, Axis – a provider of IP camera monitoring solutions designed for residential use, and Stagecoach Wireless – an Axis partner, quickly went to work. Axis and Stagecoach Wireless installed 84 network surveillance cameras at various locations around the community. Each camera was connected using wired / wireless networking technology, enabling security guards to remotely monitor the community from security stations and any desktop computer that had the necessary installed software and security access.

Not long after installation, security infractions such as gate vandalism and forced entries decreased significantly.
