Netherland Grocery Store Implements AXIS Network Camera Solution

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Established in 1989, Albert Heijn is the longest running grocery store chain in the Netherlands.  When the original location outgrew its tiny storefront the decision was made to relocate to a building that provided 2400m2 of space. With more area to cover, upper management decided that it was time to implement an IP camera system to ease the manageability of day to day functions as well as to facilitate a more refined method of controlling internal processes. Seeing the need for a budget friendly solution that was both scalable and kept pace with market demand, the Albert Heijn contacted Axis Communications partners, Bovli Solutions and Videotronic Infosystems. Both organizations worked directly with the supermarket to implement a solution that was able to facilitate internal and external smart camera surveillance as well as provide the management the ability to monitor daily processes.

In total, the solution required 21 Axis network cameras that were allocated between the parking lot, the grocery floor, each entrance and management offices.

Taking advantage of the intelligent surveillance and monitoring capabilities of Axis network cameras enabled the Albert Heijn management team to better monitor in store processes and customer satisfaction rates soared as a result.

Vivotek Cameras Help Protect Supermarket in Thailand

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Thailand’s premier supermarket chain SuperCheap may direct their product focus on providing value-priced food items and household goods, however they were unwilling to be SuperCheap when it came to their security monitoring abilities.

Despite their low prices, the supermarket chain was a regular victim to routine shoplifters even though their stores made use of Closed Circuit Television Surveillance systems. While the system may have once served its purpose, the wide spread knowledge that CCTV systems do not provide a clear enough image for police and security personnel to make a positive identification have resulted in the surveillance system no longer being a deterrent to criminals and trespassers.

In hopes of rectifying the growing shoplifting concern, SuperCheap contacted local surveillance system provider TSolutions who then evaluated the supermarket’s locations and security needs. It was the recommendation of TSolution that the chain implement a solution comprised of VIVOTEK IP cameras.

After having learned the many benefits of harnessing that capabilities associated with VIVOTEK cameras,  the chains management team agreed to implement the new system into one of their stores to serve as a test facility. After a successful test run, the chain then decided to expand the system into three additional locations.

38 VIVOTEK cameras were implemented during the testing phase, including seven IP8332 cameras. These cameras helped to rectify the previous complaints associated with exterior and entryway monitoring with CTV cameras. Inside the stores, 23 FD8134 cameras provided exceptional monitoring, enabling 1280 x 800 video at 30 frames per second. Lastly, 8 IP7160 cameras were strategically placed inside the stores to provide a wide angle view of the floor area. Each camera utilized a fisheye lens and provided 2-megapixel resolution.
