Munich Subway System Installs Mobile AXIS Cameras

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

MVG is responsible for providing one of the most contemporary transport systems available. In fact, an excess of 500 million people pass through its bus, tram and subway terminals every year. The Munich subway system alone boasts an impressive network of 95 kilometers, with 100 stations and 580 cars. During the beginning months of 2008, a decision was made to increase security by equipping trains and streetcars with advanced security systems. Due to special circumstances that surround most transportation systems, it was necessary for the surveillance solution to be powered entirely over Ethernet.

Enlisting the assistance of Munich-based security firm, Indanet, 358 subway cars and 88 streetcars were effectively armed with a digital surveillance system designed to deliver optimal results.  When asked about the implementation of Axis cameras, Jurgen Fuchs, the general manager of Indanet said, “We wanted a compact, rugged IP camera with railway approval for our customers that was easy to install and configure. Of course, it also had to support high-quality video which can be entered as evidence in court to identify offenders.”

Luckily, Axis had designed a camera specifically for cases such as this: AXIS M3113-R. A fit in your palm network camera capable of delivering superb digital imagery despite the constant motion and uncontrolled environment of the transportation system.

MVP had nothing but praises for the solution, in fact, (the cameras) assisted greatly in “a successful manhunt” for an individual whom had caused significant damage on December 5th 2010.

Krakow Municipal Police Force Implements AXIS Mobile Cameras

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

The law enforcement officials working with the Krakow Municipal Police Force understand the importance of keeping pace with technology. They have experienced firsthand its benefits when used in conjunction with other crime fighting tools. In an effort to shorten response times and create a more effective method of crime control, the Krakow Police Force made the decision to fit each of their patrol vehicles with Axis network cameras. A decision that police representative Marek Aniol cites as having given police officers the ability to carry out their duties on a ‘much broader scale.’

After having used the IP cameras for just one year, the law officials believe that they have been provided with a highly result driven and effective tool that enables them to better tend to their duties in the areas that are most susceptible to crime. The far reaching benefits of having a mobile video surveillance system extend past simple patrol procedures and provide continuity through the legal channels as well as documentation of stationary surveillance situations.
